The railway station was built to serve the airport and opened in 2004. Until 2006 only Proastiakos trains
used the station and Athens metro Light Blue #3 trains started sharing the station in afterwards.
Athens Airport Station has 2 Island Platforms and 3 Tracks. Track 1 is disused due to low traffic, Track 2
is used by the Metro and Track 3 by Proastiakos. All trains terminate at this station.
The railway station is immediately adjacent to the airport terminal, accessible by an elevated walkway.
As of April 2015, the trip to or from the airport a special ticket of 8 euros is required.
