Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is the fourteenth-largest city in the European Union. It is also the historical capital of Bohemia. Situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava River, the city is home to about 1.3 million people, while its larger urban zone is estimated to have a population of nearly 2 million. The city has a temperate oceanic climate, with warm summers and chilly winters.

The public transport infrastructure consists of an intensely used integrated transport system of Prague Metro (its length is 59 km (37 mi) with 57 stations in total).

The Metro has three major lines extending throughout the city, A fourth Metro line is planned, although a date for construction to begin has not yet been specified.

  • Basic Ticket: Adult (32 CZK/US$ 1.60) Child/Senior (16 CZK/US$ 0.80) - valid for 90 minutes
  • Short-term:  Adult (24 CZK/              ) Child/Senior (12 CZK/             ) - valid for 30 minutes
  • 1 Day Pass: Adult (110 CZK/US$ 5.50) Child/Senior (55 CZK/US$ 2.75) - valid for any 24 hour period.
  • 3 Day Pass: Adult/Child/Senior (310 CZK/US$ 12.00) - valid for any 72 hour period
