Hong Kong is a special administrative region (SAR) of the People's Republic of China (PRC). It is situated on China's south coast and, enclosed by the Pearl River Delta andSouth China Sea, it is known for its expansive skyline and deep natural harbour. With a land mass of 1,104 km2 (426 sq mi) and a population of seven million people, Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Hong Kong's population is 95 percent ethnic Chinese and 5 percent from other groups. Hong Kong's Han Chinese majority originate mainly from the cities ofGuangzhou and Taishan in the neighbouring Guangdong province.

 

Hong Kong's transportation network is highly developed. Over 90% of daily travels (11 million) are on public transport,  the highest such percentage in the world. Payment can be made using the Octopus card, a stored value system introduced by the Mass Transit Railway (MTR), which is widely accepted on railways, buses and ferries, and accepted like cash at other outlets.

 

Service Hours varie but basically from around 6am to Midnight.

 

MTR Tourist Products include a Tourist Day Pass (24 Hrs) - HK$ 55.00 (US$ 6.00 ),  Child Tourist Day Pass (24 Hrs) - HK$ 25.00 (US$ 3.00).
